Understanding the Impact of Rupee Depreciation on the Indian Economy
One of my key takeaways from learning about finance is that currency movements are not merely numbers on a screen, but they have a direct impact on businesses, consumers, and the broader economy.
When the Indian rupee depreciates against the US dollar, Indian exports may become more competitive internationally. However, imports such as crude oil, coal, machinery, and other commodities can become more expensive, potentially increasing production costs and inflation.
For businesses operating across international markets, exchange-rate movements also influence profitability, pricing strategies, cash flows, and investment decisions.
This has reinforced an important lesson for me: financial decisions cannot be made in isolation. They must account for macroeconomic trends, global trade dynamics, and currency risk.
As I continue my learning journey in finance, I am increasingly interested in understanding how businesses can manage these risks while creating sustainable long-term value.
